Since moving to the US in 2006 Matthias has meticulously and patiently trained a number of high quality young grand prix horses, some of which have had international success and others which have gone on to make their new owners very happy. Matt as he is known to his many friends has also had much success as a trainer; most notably his wife who competes for her country on an international level. However he has also brought along kids from the short stirrup division to pony finals and the timid child rider to the North American Young Rider and Junior championships.
